Hip Hop Dynamo

Love Hip Hop? Love Dance? Then prepare to be blown away…

For one night only Independance in collaboration with Leicester Children's Festival are proud to introduce 'Hip Hop Dynamo'. Bringing you some of the best urban acts from this side of the Atlantic, all joining forces to present a night of innovative choreography and jaw dropping moves. This will be a night of Hip Hop you definitely won't forget!

The core company for the Dynamo performance will be five of the dancers from the Hip Hop Collective. They will present some duo and solo work and will perform the Breakin' routine from their 2005 tour of "Hero's". We will also invite some of the UK's best and most talented b-boys to perform for this special event and are envisioning a company of over 20 performers including Lockers, Poppers and Breakers. The evening ends with a thrilling dance off, with everyone showing off their best tricks and special moves.

Hip Hop Dynamo mixes young artists with experienced performers and also provides opportunities for local talent to get involved within in the performance process. The Community involvement could either be through an education project, or individual groups could be auditioned "X factor" style prior to the performance.

The Community involvement:-

Following the success of the Hip Hop Collective residency in 2005, for this years project we want to work with larger numbers of participants and would like to contact education establishments and dancing schools and even community salsa or street dance classes. We would like to teach a 'House Dance' routine. House is fluid, with quite intricate floor patterns and footwork. We would really be trying to present a polished piece so would like to work for a minimum of two or even three weekends prior to the performance.

Individual groups – it may also be possible to invite some local b–boys or street dance groups to join the performance.
